Door Supervisor NVQ Level 2 Qualification

This is a four day course, designed in line with the SIA specification for core proficiency training of door supervisor and it covers all the necessary knowledge and skills required for work as well as creating a more secure leisure environment.

 

Aims:

It is aimed at providing the learner with the basic knowledge and understanding to ensure the competency of service as a door supervisor; and to address the licensing requirements in the SIA regulated, operational environment.

 

Objectives:

  • To develop the learners understanding of the roles and responsibilities of door supervisors, and the relevance of regulations within which they must operate.

  • It provides the learner with knowledge of work systems and procedures as well as the learner’s knowledge of health and safety in the workplace including awareness of emergency procedures.

  • Provide the learner with knowledge of the law and legal issues. Enable the learner to implement effective methods of communication. Develop the learner’s abilities to recognise, defuse and resolve conflict situations.

CCTV In Public Space Surveillance

It is a legal requirement that any person wishing to work as CCTV operators viewing or recording images from public areas should hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

 

This course would assist companies and individuals with the provision of basic job training that meets the SIA requirements for licensing. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the current legislation with regards to their work and knowledge relating to the purpose and principles of CCTV surveillance systems.

Security Guard NVQ Level 2 Qualifications

Security guards perform similar tasks as Door Supervisors; the main difference between the two is Door Supervisor is “front of house”. However the tasks of a security guard are equally important for ensuring that there is a peaceful, secure atmosphere wherever they are employed.

 

This three days course is divided into three sectors:

  1. Working in the private security industry

  2. Working as a security guard

  3. Conflict Management for the private security industry

 

After which you would do a 2 hour examination which you must pass if you wish to become a Security Guard. These examinations are designed to ascertain if you have understood and absorbed the course you have just undertaken.

Health and Safety at Work Place

Health and safety sector covers a range of services across a range of organisations within the public, private and voluntary sectors, including hospitals and care homes. This 1 day course would help you develop a clear understanding of your specific role and responsibilities.

Risk Assessment: Principle and practise – level 3 CIEH

This 2 day course is useful for managers and supervisors but it would be equally useful to individual workers, team leaders, technicians, engineers or any other personnel contributing to the risk assessment process.

  • Stages involved in carrying out risk assessments

  • Key legislative requirements

Food and Hygiene Courses

This 1 day course has been designed to provide candidates with a basic level of food safety awareness amongst staff in social care, catering, manufacturing and retails sectors. The topics included are as follows;

  • Introduction to food safety

  • Personal hygiene

  • Cleaning

  • Contamination

 

Food safety in catering /level 2 

This 1 day course is the next level to the one listed above, with the above topics covered in more detail and the following topics also being covered:

  • The Law Introduction to food safety

  • Food Safety hazards

  • Taking temperatures

  • Refrigeration, chilling and cold holdings food

  • Cooking, hot holding and re-heating of foods

  • Food handlers

  • Principles of safe food storage

  • Food premises and equipment

Fire Safety Courses

This 1 day course is aimed at anyone with an interest in the more practical aspects of health and safety, and staff acting as fire wardens.

 

Topics included:

  • The fire Triangle- basic elements required

  • Identification of fire

  • Fire fighting procedures and equipment

  • Categories of fire and fire fighting systems to be implanted

  • Demonstration

 Health And Social Care Level 2 NVQ

The health and social care sector covers a range of services across a range of organisations within the public, private and voluntary sectors, including hospitals and care homes. This course would help you develop a clear understanding of your specific role and responsibilities.

 

It is designed to cover four mandatory units which include:

  • Communication and record keeping for the individuals you support in your setting.

  • Health & Safety of yourself and individuals.

  • Develop your own knowledge and practice.

  • Ensuring your actions support the care, protection and well being of individuals.

 

The Benefits of an NVQ in Health and Social Care:

  • An NVQ in Health and Social Care helps you gain a national standard in social care

  • The qualification helps you become more effective and efficient at work

  • To increase your knowledge and awareness.

  • To gain a better understanding of your client’s needs.

  • It provides learners with scenarios and how to handle them.

 

Assessment
Candidates would be assessed during the period of the course through evaluation of work-based performance, presenting evidence, witness testimony and questioning. You would create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates the level of performance and development through the training. Candidates will all have a competent NVQ assessor to help build the portfolio and prepare for assessment.

 

Duration

This course has no time scale but candidates are advised to try and finish between 6-9 months allowing progressing on to NVQ in Health and Social Care Level 3.

Health And Social Care Level 3 NVQ 

This course is designed for people who have some supervisory responsibility like senior care workers, health care workers, home care organisers and community support workers and include units for drugs and mental health workers. The Children and Young People pathway is especially relevant to residential child care workers and foster carers as well as workers in health, youth justice and educational settings.

Four mandatory units and four optional units:

  • Promote effective communication for and about individuals.

  • Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment.

  • Reflect on and develop your practice.

  • Promote choice, well-being and the protection of individuals. The optional units chosen must be appropriate for the work function and setting of the learner.

 

Assessment

Candidate takes place through evaluation of work-based performance, presenting evidence, witness testimony and questioning. Candidates would have to build a portfolio of evidence through the help of competent NVQ assessor for assessment.

 

Duration

This course has no time scale but candidates are advised to try and finish between 9 months allowing progressing on to NVQ in Health and Social Care Level 4.

Conflict Management NVQ Level 2 Qualification

This one-day workshop and scenario based training is designed to develop skill to avoid conflict and how to communicate emotions during conflict while working collaboratively toward a mutual benefit.

Objectives:

  • To develop the learners on how to refuse entry and how to manage conflict.

  • It provides learners with scenarios and how to handle them.

  • Providers the learner with knowledge.

Supervising Health And Safety Level 3, Chartered Institue Of Environmental Health(CIEH)

This 2 day course is designed for people who have some supervisory approaches to health and safety. And will help develop more knowledge and skills to enable senior staff, team leaders and line mangers. It is designed to cover the following:

  • Concepts of health &safety

  • Accidents in the workplace

  • Ill health in the workplace

  • Legal provisions _

  • Health & safety organisation and management

  • Supervising Health & safety.

 

The Benefits of supervising Health and Safety level 3:

  • The safety representative would develop more supervisor approaches to health and safety

  • It would enable safety representative to gain more knowledge and skills to carry out their obligations more effectively

First Aid Training Courses:

It is a legal requirement employers must carry out a first aid training needs assessment. We offer a full range of first aid training courses there are now two types of first aiders. First Aider at Work (3 day course) and an Emergency First Aider at Work (1 day course). In addition, the HSE now recommends that all First Aiders attend annual refresher course (3 hours).

 

We offer the following first aid training courses:

Emergency First Aid at Work Course  – This HSE approved, 2 days course is for individuals who are required to act as an Emergency First Aider at Work with the emphasis on preventing situations from becoming worse and maintaining life until help arrives.

 

The Benefits of Emergency First At work:

  • The First Aider would develop more supervisory approaches to health and safety at work

  • It would enable First Aider gain more knowledge and skills to carry out their obligations more effectively

  • Annual First Aid Refresher Course  – The HSE strongly recommends that both Emergency First Aiders at Work and First Aiders at Work undergo this 3 hour first aid refresher training course annually to ensure they are up to date with current procedures and to keep their knowledge and skills fresh.

  • The First Aider would develop more supervisory approaches to health and safety at work

  • It would enable First Aider gain more knowledge and skills to carry out their obligations more effectively

  • First Aid at Work Course  – This HSE approved 3 day first aid at work course is for individuals intending to act as a First Aider at Work. The course will provide attendees with the skills and knowledge necessary to give effective life support diagnose and treat injuries and illness and maintain care and comfort of the casualty.

Manual Handling

This 1 day course complements the CIEH Health and Safety programme. It is aimed at those who carry out manual handling activities at work and introduce candidates to the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved and controls available and what to expect.

  • The First Aider would develop more supervisory approaches to health and safety at work

  • Paediatric First Aid Course  Level 2 – This HSE approved 2 day course is for individuals who are teachers, child minders and nanny’s or parents who would want to know how to handle emergency cases to save a situation if need be.

Course Duration

  • Level 2 = 12 months

  • Level 3 = 18 months

The CYPW Apprenticeship consists of both hands on work experience and guided teaching by an Assessor who will usually come to your workplace. You will normally be expected to commit 30-35 hours a week to your Apprenticeship, though this may vary according to your employer.

In order to achieve the CYPW certificate/diploma in you will need to demonstrate both your practical skills and functional/technical skills. Your practical skills will be assessed by your Assessor through workplace observation. The functional/technical skills will be assessed through examinations.
